What Does It Mean to Be a Life Coach?
Being a life coach is more than a profession—it’s a calling to help others unlock their full potential, discover their purpose, and create meaningful change in their lives. For me, choosing to be a life coach came from a deep desire to help my clients with a holistic approach to growth and transformation. My mission is to help individuals shift their perspectives of their current lives, enabling them to see new possibilities and embrace positive change.
A Helper in Growth
As a Life Coach and Relaxation Trainer I am not a therapist, mentor, or advisor. Instead, I am a Helper in growth. I walk alongside my clients, helping them define their goals, identify their challenges, and create actionable plans to move forward. I don’t provide answers; instead, I ask the right questions. By doing so, I encourage introspection, self-awareness, and clarity, empowering individuals to find their own solutions.
For me, it’s like holding up a mirror that reflects, not just who someone is but who they have the potential to become. That’s what I strive to offer—a perspective that reveals untapped strengths, hidden possibilities, and pathways to personal transformation.
Shifting Perspectives
One of the most powerful aspects of being a coach is helping individuals shift their perspectives. Many people go through life wearing “glasses” clouded by fear, self-doubt, or limiting beliefs. My role is to help them adjust those lenses to see their world differently—more clearly and optimistically.
For instance, I once worked with a client who felt stuck in a career that no longer brought them joy. Through thoughtful conversations and guided exploration, they realised their dissatisfaction stemmed from a misalignment with their values. This shift in perspective opened the door to new possibilities, including pursuing a career that aligned with their passions and sense of purpose.
Facilitating Clarity and Purpose
As a life coach, I help my clients cut through the noise of daily life to uncover what truly matters to them. In a world filled with distractions and pressures, it’s easy to lose sight of personal values, passions, and dreams. I see my role as a compass, guiding individuals back to their true north.
By asking deep, thought-provoking questions, I help my clients:
Understand their values:
What principles guide their decisions and bring them fulfilment?
Recognize their strengths:
What unique talents and qualities can they harness?
Clarify their goals:
What do they want to achieve, and why does it matter?

Breaking Through Barriers
With this clarity, my clients can create a vision for their lives that feels authentic and aligned with their deepest aspirations.
Everyone faces obstacles on the growth path. Some are external—a lack of resources, time, or support. Others are internal—fear, self-doubt, or deeply ingrained limiting beliefs. Often, clients come to me lacking the confidence to make changes they deeply desire. They may feel overwhelmed or stuck, unsure of where to start or whether they even have what it takes to succeed.
My purpose is to help them see that these barriers are not permanent. For example, a client struggling with procrastination might uncover that their avoidance stems from a fear of failure. Together, we can reframe this fear, encouraging them to see mistakes as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks. By addressing the root cause of the issue, they can move forward with renewed confidence.
Holding Space and Accountability
As a helper. I provide the ability to hold space for my clients. This means creating an environment of trust, empathy, and non-judgment where they feel safe to share their thoughts, fears, and dreams.
In addition to offering emotional support, and mindfulness techniques, I serve as an accountability partner. When my clients commit to specific actions, I ensure they stay on track, celebrating progress and gently challenging them when they fall behind. This combination of support and accountability helps them build momentum and achieve results they might not reach on their own.
Fueling Transformation
At its heart, being a life coach is about transformation. It’s about helping people break free from the limitations of their past, embrace the possibilities of the present, and step boldly into their future. Whether it’s finding a new career, building healthier relationships, or cultivating inner peace, life coaching is a catalyst for meaningful change.
Why I Chose to Be a Life Coach
I chose to become a life coach because I believe in the power of a holistic approach to growth, you see it profoundly in my Relaxation Techniques. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be to help someone shift their perspective—to see beyond their current struggles and imagine a brighter, more fulfilling future. For me, life coaching is a complementary to my Relaxation Practice; it’s about guiding people to reconnect with their values, passions, and authentic selves.
Watching my clients experience breakthroughs, take bold steps, and transform their lives is rewarding and It’s a privilege to be part of their journey and to witness their growth and success.
Conclusion
To be a coach is to be a guide, a cheerleader, and a catalyst for change. It’s about believing in the greatness of others and helping them see it for themselves. It’s about shifting perspectives, breaking barriers, and unlocking potential.
For me, it’s not just a career—it’s a mission to inspire transformation, one person at a time.
